"Destiny." Mako begins and she knows what this means. In the bleak morning when shame spread over her and she felt cold underneath the blaze of waking sunlight. "Don't. Just don't." Destiny clenches her eyes shut, pretending not to notice him carding his hands through her hair. "I still love you." Destiny laughs without humor. "But, you love her more." Mako is silent. The blue birds answer for him with a bittersweet song, gliding in through her window. Bittersweet. Yeah, that seemed about right.
YOU’VE DISCOVERED US. OUR LOVE IS BEAUTIFUL BUT IT CAN NEVER BE.
(Come off anon so I can marry you.)
Part 5: up. She couldn’t finish the sentence without crying so instead she sat beside him on the bed and curled up into his side, hugging him close. Mako put his arms around her and tucked his face into her neck trying to control his own tears.
Part 4: if you blame me. I blame myself. It’s all my fault Mako if I had just-“ “No.” “No?” “No this isn’t your fault and I don’t ever want to here you say that again.” Korra stood there by his bedside and stared at the ground. “Korra, you couldn’t have done anything I understand. My bending isn’t what matters anyway.” “What? Mako of course it matters how could you say that?” “Because you don’t have your bending anymore either and your the avatar. And that’s my fault.” “Mako-“ Korra said choked
Part 2:“Korra? Korra are you awake?” Korra opened her eyes and saw Ikki leaning over her. “Daddy! She’s awake!” Korra grunted and sat up rubbing her head. “What happened?” she asked. “You and Mako had your bending taken away by Amon. We were too late when we found you. I’m so sorry Korra…” Tenzin said roughly. Korra choked up for a moment. Her bending was gone. That isn’t why she suddenly had tears in her eyes though. Mako’s was gone too and it was her fault. She quickly flipped the blankets off
Part 3:her legs and got up, stumbling a bit as she walked to the doorway. “Korra I don’t think-“ Tenzin began, but Korra was already down the hallway at Mako’s door. She knocked once before tentatively sliding open the door. “Ma-Mako?” The handsome firebender was covered in scratches and bruises. He was laying in his bed propped up right by a pillow. Korra stepped fully through the door and slid it shut behind her. She approached his bed slowly as he was still not looking at her. “I understand

Part 1: Korra writhed on the ground in pain as Amon continued to blood bend her. Amon had now gotten the upper-hand on Mako and he pushed the firebender to his knees. “Such a shame I must rid you of this imperfection, you are quite skilled,” Amon said as he placed his thumb on Mako’s forehead. “NO!” Korra cried out, but she was too weak to move. Her vision started to get fuzzy as Mako grunted in pain and slumped to the floor. The next thing she knew everything was black.
OH GOD. OH GOD. OH GOD. ALSFJA;SDFASDJ;F?
Half-baked avatar? Not even close, Korra though to herself. How could she protect anyone? Now she was only an amateur airbender. A single tear drop dripped off her cheek and into the vast ocean. Useless. She couldnt take on the role of avatar anymore. She needed someone else to take over. Somebody who would be able to do all the things she could not. There was only one solution. It was time for the avatar cycle to begin anew.
OH GOD WHY. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.
Mako placed his lips against the once warm ones that touched his so long ago. For so long he had loved Korra, but never said it. At least, not in time. Korra's body stood motionless, eyes glowing, and skin cold. The ground beneath them shook as fire erupted and water came crashing in through glass windows. "I love you Korra", Mako whispered. Korra raised her arms, ignoring his pronounced love, and raised the earth. Mako's body flew and landed in a pile. His body motionless. "I'm sorry."
When Mako started dating Asami, Korra initially hated the girl. She looked like the damsel in distress she imagined in those stories she hated. Asami proved herself otherwise, but after the raid in the mansion, Korra's heart cracked at the sight of a strong woman breaking down, and she let Mako be Asami's knight in shining armor. Korra let him go, despite feeling a pit where her heart should have been, because she realized life's no love story. (2/2)
Why do that to me why why why why.
Since childhood, Korra hated love stories. She'd always ask her parents to tuck her in with a story about a female heroine, like she knew she'd become. However, when she came to Republic City and saw her first pro-bending match, Korra desperately wanted to be the damsel in distress and Mako to be her knight in shining armor. (1/2)
*mouth opens, then shuts*
It was only when Korra and Bolin were asleep that he came over to her. Rolling her on her back and laying his body on top of hers. Mako leaned down to kiss Asami roughly on the lips. It was his way of saying sorry with everything poured into it anxiety, passion, guilt. Asami wrapped her fingers around the boy's neck as his hands slowly explored her body. She shouldn't have let him back in with such ease but the next thing she knew, Bolin was shaking her awake. Mako would only touch her in dreams
1/2 Smooth. Her hands were so smooth. Even in sleep - no, especially in sleep, when all her guards were down and her tough act all but disintegrated - She was wildly beautiful. He slipped his hands towards her own and gently wrapped her fingers into his fist, all too aware of her sleeping state. "Korra." Bolin murmured, absently stroking her palm, his eyes trained on her closed lids, "It's my fault. I...I should never have got arrested. If I had just stayed put you would have been okay."
2/2 He knew that she couldn't hear him. Seeing her like this was torture. Her once strong body now broken and bruised. Even her skin looked pallid compared to her past radiance. He had taken for granted her vibrancy. Bolin would imagine her strong hands wrapped around his cock, pumping until he came. Now those same hands were limp in his palm, and lips he had imagined pressed to his own now pale. Looking at her now, the thought of doing anything but nurturing her repulsed him.
It'd been so long since she felt safe. Since she snuggled into her father's arms while her mother weaved incredible tales of Aang's adventures, her past life. Republic City had torn away her fantasies of being the like the Avatar before her. She was truly hated by some. The idea had slowly ticked away at her confidence until she was raw and vulnerable. Yet she felt safe in the arms of a boy who had hurt her so badly. But some pain can only be healed by the person who caused it.
[Mako] "Korra its fine. I'll be fine." The boy said as his friends helped him to his feet. She had turned away by now and he placed a hand on her shoulder. She flinched, but did not move away. So he pressed on, "Amon took something from me, but I don't regret coming with you on this mission. The world doesn't look to me to keep balance, they look to you. And that makes you a lot more important than my bending."
